Our Pastor
Pastor Arlan B. Potts is a Native Houstonian – by way of Corsicana TX. He is an alumnus of Texas Southern University, The University of Houston and The College of Biblical Studies. He was Licensed and Ordained by the late, Dr. William A. Lawson, Civil Rights Activist and founding Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, TX, where the current pastor is Dr. Marcus D. Cosby.
Prior to accepting the role as Servant and Pastor of Pageville Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Potts began his minstry as Minister of Stewardship for Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, serving Houston’s Third and Fourth Wards, under the Late, Pastor Crawford W. Kimble. Rev. Potts continued his Ministerial career as the Assistant Pastor of Sugar Wood Baptist Church, and later as the Senior Pastor of Thompson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, both in Sugar Land, TX. He is the founder of Spiritual Deliverance Ministries, serving Sugar Land, Richmond/Rosenburg, and the Greater Fort Bend Community.
In his professional career, Rev. Potts worked for 10 years as an Assistant Vice President of Retail Financial Services for JP Morgan Chase, where among many duties, he oversaw mergers and acquisitions in the States of; Texas, Arizona, California, New York and Idaho. In 2006, He joined Premier America Credit Union where he served as Manager of Operations, covering the State of Texas.
In 2012, Rev. Potts joined Citi bank as an Operations Manager and remained throughout the Texas Citi-Group transition to the former BB&T and the current Truist Bank . He is currently a branch manager, focusing on Economic Success and Financial Security in the Black Community.
Rev. Potts is married to the former Janet Batchler, an Education Specialist for the Fort Bend Independent School District, and together, they are the proud parents of two; Josiah – a 2022 graduate of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, and Akira Joy – a 2024 graduate of (Mizzou), The University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
